Job Summary

The Asset Manager is located in the international design office during the EPC phase of the Mozambique LNG project. The positon will transition to be on rotation in Mozambique during the operations phase of the project. The position reports directly to the LNG Operations General Manager.

This position will manage the entire portfolio of Mozambique operational assets, which includes Sub-surface, and all AMA1 operated LNG production facilities.  This role will provide experienced leadership during both the development and operational phases for LNG and associated projects.


The successful candidate will have a minimum of seven (7) or more years’ in a Petrochemical Processing operations and maintenance, of which eight (8) or more years’ experience will be in a multi Train LNG operations. Specific experience and expertise in the following is required:

  • Proven record of superior leadership in the areas of safety and environmental performance in previous roles;
  • Proven record of Management of a complex upstream business unit, with a role(s) that encompass direct or indirect commercial, administrative, and operational responsibilities;
  • Understanding of how to conduct business in a developing country;experience on the African continent preferred;
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience leading in an international location with responsibilities in the areas of project executive, project management, commissioning, and/or start-up and operations;
  • Fundamental understanding of upstream unit operations for both offshore and onshore LNG processes from both a technical and business perspective;
  • Acting as owner’s representative in commercial and contractual negotiations with third party service providers;
  • Outstanding leadership ability to work with culturally diverse stakeholders;strong written, oral and interpersonal communications skills;
  • Proven success in preparation of STO for Operating phase.



  • Champion the development of a positive safety culture within the MZLNG Afungi Asset Team;
  • Lead Operations Assurance in Detail Engineering and Commissioning phases;
  • Champion Operability and Maintainability requirements in the Design Stage;
  • Ensure adequate resourcing to support HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, FAT activities etc.  as needed during detailed engineering;
  • Lead role in Operations Readiness and Assurance;
  • Ensure adequate staffing and competency level for Afungi Asset Operations Phase;
  • Ensure delivery of AMA-01 asset obligations as identified in EPC;
  • Lead Interface for AMA-01 with Area 4 team and establish adequate interface operations processes and controls to capitalize on optimization opportunities and safe and secure  site operations.

Operational phase

  • Champion the development of a positive safety culture within the MZLNG Afungi Asset Team;
  • Person in Charge of Mozambique LNG (MLNG) Afungi assets responsible for administration, health, safety and environmental management of all site and associated near-shore operations;
  • Direct and implement the overall strategy for Mozambique assets (including sub-surface, & LNG facilities), integrating commercial, business, and stakeholder engagement objectives;
  • Ensure all AMA-01 activities related to Operations of their Afungi Assets adhere to and enforce all applicable safety, environmental, security, compliance, quality standards and procedures established by Company, local policies, laws and regulations;
  • Develop strategies/goals to maximize the value and productivity and deliver on commercial commitments of AMA1 facilities operated by Anadarko (budget, manpower, etc.) and steward with Afungi LNG asset managers;
  • Support the ongoing development of community relations and stakeholder engagement strategies (in conjunction with Stakeholder Engagement leadership) and translate into protocols and policies for Mozambique operations;  communicate expectations to operational leaders throughout Mozambique;
  • Encourage and steward the safe and superior operation of AMA1 operating facilities and obtain, train, and retain the appropriate staff required to do so, in alignment with workforce strategies and national content goals;
  • Enhance the reputation of Anadarko in Mozambique by embodying the Anadarko Core Values and developing/maintaining positive relationships with key stakeholders in country (government officials, NGO leaders, ENI, partners, etc.);
  • Recruit and provide training and for the AMA-01 Team at the Afungi Assets towards ensuring Asset team capability and competency;
  • Ensure availability of adequate contracts services and materials to support maintenance activities;
  • Ensure adequate safety , security and support function support for Afungi Assets;
  • Manage Interfaces with Area 4 team and establish adequate interface operations processes and controls to capitalize on optimization opportunities in operating phase;
  • Ensure development of Mozambican  Nationals towards delivery of AMA01 nationalization program.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or equivalent is required.


  • Fluent oral and written knowledge of English is required.  Intermediate knowledge of Portuguese or Spanish is desirable.

Work Schedule

During the project phase, this position is eligible for a 9/80 schedule.  During the operations phase, this position will be on a 28/28 rotation to Afungi, Mozambique.
